Our Primary Colors
Children’s Songbook, Our Primary Colors, 258
Our Primary colors are one, two, three—
Red, yellow, and blue. Each one has a message for you and me.
Each is a symbol true!
Red is for courage to do what is right,
Yellow for service from morning till night.
Blue is for truth in our thought and our deed.
We will be happy when this is our creed.
Words and music: Marzelle Mangum, b. 1914. Arr. © 1989 IRI
IDEAS TO PRESENT: Purchase fabric in red, yellow, and blue and cut out strips or flags that children can wave when they share ways to be HAPPY as follows.
– RED shows courage to do what is right, not study for a test and copy your friend’s paper, or study (have them guess which is going to make one happy)
– YELLOW shows be truthful in thought and deed, e.g. tell the truth or not tell the truth (have them guess which is going to make one happy)
– BLUE shows be honest or truthful in thought and deed, e.g., when tempted to not share or share when you are asked to share (have them guess which is going to make one happy)
