Forever Friends! Mending and Keeping Friendships - motivational activity
Forever Friends!
Mending and Keeping Friendships
The following activities will help girls learn how to mend and keep a friendship, to make them strong and correct an occasional boo-boo.
INVITATION: Invitation reads, “Sometimes boo-boos happen, so come and learn some Friendship First Aid!”
Activity 1—Friendship Flash Cards
Girls can use these cards to learn ways to mend a friendship and keep a friendship going. Use the cards to play the game, ponder the motivators, e.g., “Never criticize a friend,” and place cards in the Friendship First-Aid Kit (see #4 below).
Activity 2—Friendship Gift Tags
Gift tags help to mend a friendship when the girl gives it to a friend by attaching it to a sucker or lollipop. Tag reads, “When life’s got me licked, it helps to have a friends like you!” They can create these gifts ahead of time ready to use by placing them in their Friendship First-Aid Kit (see #4 below).
Activity 3—Friendship Post Cards
Postcards and postage stamps can be placed in their Friendship First Aid Kit (see below) ready to send to a friend. Postcards are an unusual way to make a friend, one that will be remembered, as real letter writing is becoming a lost art.
Activity 4—Make a Friendship First-Aid Kit
Here girls can collect Friendship Flash Cards, Friendship Gift Tags, and postcards (shown). Tell girls they can use this kit to store tools for patching up a broken friendship or keeping a friendship going. Include gift tags to attach to friendship gifts (Activity 2), postcards to send to a friend (Activity 3), and Friendship Flash Cards (Activity 1) to remind you of ways to be a friend. Use kit to store birthday cards, thank-you cards, etc.
Instructions for making kit are in the pdf.
Success Snack (Heart-Shaped Cookies)
Make cookies and talk about friendship and trust (detailed in the pdf).
