DO PUZZLE: Find as many words as you can in the word search by looking across, down, and diagonally. Then write the word in the right blank to complete the sentence.

• John the Baptist was the son of Zacharias and Elisabeth.
• John was a cousin to Jesus. His mother Elizabeth was a cousin to Mary, the mother of Jesus.
• John had a noble mission to prepare the way for Jesus and help the people to be ready to receive Him.
• The angel Gabriel announced his birth to John’s father (Luke 1:5-25). He was a child of promise (Isa. 40:3; Mal. 3:1).
• He grew up in the desert, eating wild honey and locusts.
• The dove, was a sign for the Holy Ghost (John 1:29-34).
• John heard the voice of Heavenly Father bearing record that Jesus was His Beloved Son, in whom He was well pleased (Matt. 3:13-17).
• John preached and baptized for many months before he baptized the Savior and continued to baptize afterwards (John 3:23-24).
• John was shut up in prison by Herod (Mark 6:16-29).
• Jesus said John did great work, and that he was unwavering and true (Luke 7:24-28). Jesus praised John as a prophet, saying there is none who was greater (Matt. 11:7-11).
• John was called to prepare the way and baptize the Savior of the world. He fulfilled his assignment in bearing testimony of Jesus Christ. Jesus characterized John as “a burning and a shining light” (John 5:35).
